Spiritual Restoration (1)

From the time of the first century people have desired to learn of God and imitate His ways. The imitation fell far short, and in this failing there was much discouragement. “How can I please God and know He’ll receive me when I die?” people asked. There is a preacher on this corner, a preacher on that corner, and a third over there. Sometimes they say the same thing, but on occasion they say different things. When asked about it, they insist on the rightness of their teaching and how the other, albeit honest, fellow is wrong.

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1, ESV).
