Imagine the marriages that would fail and fail miserably if the husband and wife were not committed to that marriage. One does not have to imagine this because it is so easily seen, and often too! What if one of those two were committed, but the other was not? Well, the marriage would continue, being held together by a string. Not long, as is often the case, when there is a flame that arises, the string breaks, the marriage is broken, scars are not healed.
As easily as this is to see, so many who have identified themselves as Christians have chosen (through neglect) to tether themselves to the Lord in precisely the same way. The Lord is committed, but the Christian (if that person can be called one) is not committed. The children have the work, the children have the play, the husband seems not to care, so I will not burden myself with the stress. "I don't want to lose my marriage. That can't be right in the Lord's eyes, can it?"
"They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law" (Luke 12:53, ESV).
Decisions in life are always choices made. Joshua said, "Choose you this day whom you will serve..."
What choice will you make?
Nothing worth having is always easy to keep. That which a person values will be saved.
