Born to be alive

Do you remember the disco song, "Born to be alive"? I do. It may be a catchy song, but the message of the song invited people to engage in movement not all that virtuous.

On the other hand, the phrase (born to be alive) can be understood in a better context. It was the Lord who said to Nicodemus that in order to be spiritually alive, one must be born from above, that is, born again from water and spirit.

The water is baptism, the word "spirit" can be understood to refer to the a person's heart being changed, but most understand it to refer to the Holy Spirit's gift of salvation.

I this is a better way to understand "born to be alive." Do you?
